In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Georgia trial lawyer Chris Stewart of Stewart Trial Attorneys recently founded The People vs. COVID-19, which uses donations to purchase food from local restaurants that, in turn, prepare and deliver the orders to medical professionals at the center of this crisis. Chris pitched the idea to AAJ member Jeb Butler, and the Butler Law Firm then signed up to this wonderful project.
“Nurses and doctors face many challenges as they work day and night to keep the community safe. There aren’t enough of them. They don’t have the masks they need. The hospitals and clinics that have called for ‘all hands on deck’ are even having trouble keeping their doctors and nurses fed,” said Chris Stewart.
Most people can’t train nurses or manufacture masks, but they can help feed healthcare workers. “The organization’s goal is to feed the people who are working to keep us all safe, and help local businesses at the same time,” explained Jeb Butler.
The People vs. COVID-19 wants its donors to spread the word, and the positive vibe, by posting on social media using #thePeoplevsCOVID19. The organization’s goal is to have the names of all donors scrolling across the bottom of the webpage. When a donor’s name scrolls across the screen, the donor will take a screenshot that he or she can share on social media. That helps to spread the word about the need to feed nurses and doctors, the need to support local restaurants, and The People vs. COVID-19.
